What makes a paint "cabinet-grade"
- Hardness. It cures into a tough film that resists chips and dents.
- Leveling. It flows flat when sprayed, hiding the application.
- Scrubbability. You can wipe grease and grime without wearing the finish.
- Block resistance. Doors do not stick to frames after curing.
What to avoid
Wall paint on cabinets — too soft. Chalk paint without a proper topcoat — wears fast in kitchens. All-in-one miracle products — ask what the warranty actually covers.
The primer matters as much
The bonding primer is what keeps the whole system on. It must fit your surface: wood, laminate, or thermofoil. In Florida it must also handle humidity. See humidity and cabinet paint.
